Concrete and Cement - sculptures and installation), is part of a larger ongoing project under the title Concrete and Cement which includes two videos alongside sculptures and installations.
The project as a whole deals metaphorically with the Zionistic project as a modern project, with its ethos and symbols and with Tel Aviv, as “the first Hebrew city”.
Central images in the project are those of concrete and the cement, as well as casted objects and sculptures that look as fossils from the ‘Concrete Era’, an invented archeological era suggested by the project, and characterized by concrete and cement, as emblematic modernist materials.
the phrase “Concrete and Cement” is drawn from a line in a poem by famous Hebrew-zionist poet Nathan Alterman. the poem personifies the country and says with praise: ‘we shall dress you up in a dress of concrete and cement’.
